Gramophone Chandeliers

Dan Marty Design turns gramophone speakers in to hanging chandeliers. Brilliant!

Of course I am wondering if I can make them myself. Hmmmmmmm.

I love these! It's supposed to be super easy to make a lamp with a hardwiring kit, though I've never tried. With my luck I'd burn the house down. Not to say YOU couldn't do it, Drollgirl. :)

This is such an awesome idea! However, finding the actual speakers would be difficult, but give it a go!

You can do it. I bet you could find a bunch for cheap on Ebay. I love this idea

Wow, I agree! This is an innovative idea.

Maybe I can find some in the thrift shop nearby and make one.

Thanks for posting.

thanks for the support drollgirl :)
about the font, a couple of other readers noted me on it as well and apparently it is an issue with Internet Explorer.. I don't know if you use firefox or safari, these shouldn't make my text smaller than it is :)

I'm sure you could do this! It's a pretty cool idea....hmmmm...it's got me thinking of all sorts of things that could be used this way! You and Sara are forcing my brain into DIY decorating overload! (it's a good thing)

i made a lamp once in high school shop class. it wasn't that hard. (and you can make them out of pretty much anything that isn't flammable)

i was just saying how i love the idea of people using chandeliers in their bedrooms now. (not just for the dining room or foyer anymore folks!)

I think these are marvelous. Bet they are very easy to make. All you need besides the gramaphone is the socket, cord and a plug and voila! Get it all at the harware store and wire together. What a great lamp!

And I adore the photo to the right of the puppies nursing on the hand. Priceless piccy. Susan

One of the better ideas I've seen for lampshades, these have a kind of deco look to them. Nice find.
(I like stripes, too)

These look amazing!! So much character! Great find - I may have to feature these ;)

You could make one of these and it would be super easy. I'm sooo not a "fixer-upper" person, and even I can make lamps and I can even re-wire old ones!!

(I sort of feel as though this last skill is akin to a superpower, lol!)

I'm torn between wanting one and wanting an actual vintage gramophone. I guess I'll take both.
