That 80's Look

Oh, the 80's were fun. I keep seeing more and more fashion that dates back to the 80's, so I figured it might be fun to travel back in time to 80's tv land and see how much things have changed, or how much they have stayed the same. You be the judge.

What a hoot! I remember living in Miami Beach & Crockett & Tubbs used our house for a location...they were so hot back then. Take a gander at all those shoulder pads!!

ahahah ...so great. I would MOST DEFINITELY STILL WEAR THE FOLLOWING:

#2 {Murphy B. rocked}
#3
#8 {Cyble S. = amazing}
#11 {Clair H's outfit}

Actually, I would wear Clair's outfit tomorrow if I had it.

I love you for this.

The Murphy Brown look is still good. But man, that Alexis Carrington hair is a bit much. Oh, and the Magnum look is also timeless!

I was just talking about this on Julochka's blog. I, like every generation is saying, "Why would you want to recreate that?" Not even Demi Moore could make the look work! Thank God they stopped short of the hair!

I do love the A team and Cagney and Lacy though... ha, good stuff!

Cybill Shepard's dress is gorgeous. And is Candice Bergen the queen of the popped collar or what?

haha, brings back childhood memories!

those were the good old days!

i can't believe that cybill s. hasn't aged much at all in 20+ years and, david addison with hair. lol

aside from a few ladies pictures, why did the wardrobe department insist on making 80's tv moms and older women look like bull dykes? poor cagney and lacey and murphy brown. yeesh!

Cybill's dress in the Moon Lighting pic is stunning!

Oh god... I love the 80s so much! I can't pass "Working Girl" on TV without watching it. The hair! The shoulder pads! It is magnificent.

There is a lot less hair around these days. I wonder how Aqua Net stays in business...

What can I say.... I'm an 80's girl..... well not with some excesses, but most are great.

Oh - love it! Magnum is still hot! And I had the hugest crush on Pierce Brosnan as a kid. The chick from Remington Steele looks pretty good too. Face from A-Team: pure cheesy 80's charm. I missed out on Dynasty - my parents wouldn't let me watch it, although the catfights always looked like such great drama. I think both of those red dresses are pretty stylish. Isn't Linda Evans married to Yanni now? Remember those crazy Cosby sweaters? I never liked the Miami Vice look. Where's Dallas? Charlene Tilton?

Owie. Ouch. That is painful. Though Tom Selleck pretty much works for me no matter what era we're in.

The sad thing is, I became a real adult in that decade and when I think of how to dress, rules from that era still pop back up like icky little mushrooms.

Funny!

I miss the big hair sometimes but I will never miss the shoulder pads!

but..I do remember many fun times with groups of girlfriends over, cheap wine and Dynasty on the television.

Oh dear god - that is just plain awful! I am glad I was pretty much too young to partake in the 80s.

BAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!! I love it. For the life of me I can't remember where i saw it, but I recently saw photos from a VERY recent fashion show featuring the dreaded shoulder pads!!!! Nooooooo!!!! Albeit they were very "space-age" looking shoulderpads, but shoulderpads nonetheless!
Actually I'm hoping it was just a funny dream I had.
It's funny how teenagers at the moment would probably look at these pictures and sneer,whilst adjusting their wide, fluoro, elastic belts which are cinching in their oversized T-shirts, which are only just concealing their lycra-legging encased butts.
*snicker*

ok some of these are fabulous (murphy brown) but most of them make me hope we dont go that far. that being said, i wasnt allowed to watch most of these tv shows (strict parents - full house was my one and only for a while there)

my favorite 80's look comes from the movie "can't buy my love" or something like that... the girl wears a white suede skirt/crop top ensemble. i die.

ah man...i totally rock the 80s look minus the boofant;) hair and perms ....shoulder pads...hot electric make up that takes days to come off. i would say a lot has stayed the same except "the hoff" isnt cool anymore...or was he ever!? xo

GOD, i hate pierce brosnan so much. smarmy-looking bastard.

Moonlighting was the BEST during Season 1. Isn't it funny how everything seems normal, and then as fashion changes, we look back, and it's totally wack?

Haha, I think everybody went fashionably crazy in the 1980s.

Ha, blast from the past. I think this last crop of 80's resurgence reminds of of the yuppified/ Dynasty 80's but my all time favorite 80's tv character is still Denise Huxtable.

It's the hair. I don't think we're ready for that yet. Everything else? Likely fair game.

This made me chuckle, I used to so love Cagney and Lacey.

Murphy Brown is still too cool for school! You have a cool blog on your hands, lady. Is there pressure to stay on top, I wonder? Ye mami. It's way easier to deal with your own bologna and have like three followers. Just so youse knows. Adoration from IA. :) ~heather
