Vintage Motorcycles

If I was a little bit cooler, if I was a lot more coordinated, if I had way more money, and if I didn't worry about becoming a quadriplegic, I'd get myself one of these beauties:

1969 BMW R69S

1955 AJS 7R

1936 BMW R12

I found these gems on the Solvang Vintage Motorcycle Museum website.

I have ridden dirtbikes and quads before, but riding in the dirt isn't as scary as riding on big city streets with arsehole drivers everywhere. And, yup, I am a chicken shit and would be scared to do that.

I've thought really hard about getting a motorbike as well. Especially a vintage-style one like that.
But the thing is, I didn't learn to ride a bike until I was 13, and I still can't ride with only one hand. I'm pretty sure it's required by law to be able to drive with one hand so you can do turning signals and stuff in case your blinkers don't work. Do they even have blinkers on motorbikes?
But I think the cool factor and the pick-up-chicks factor far outweighs the quadriplegic factor.
Plus I'd look like Brad Pitt in Benjamin Button.
Vroom!

Also, in Canada you'd only get to ride it for like 5 months at most in a year. The rest of year, instead of Brad Pitt, I'd look like John Candy or something

those are sexy. i've only been on a motorcycle once, when i was in jr high (more than 25 yrs ago). my dad's friend took me for a ride. it.was.awesome. but, i burned my calf on the exhaust pipe when i got off. still. it.was.awesome. now i'd probably be too chicken to ride one.

bikes have scared me since I rode my cousins when I was 15 and ditched it....not fun. But these are beauties - I wish I was cool enough too.

So Benjamin Button- they eye candy of Brad on a bike was one of the only saving graces of that poor film!
I want to ride these with the wind in my hair, my eyes watering like crazy from the speed...but sadly, not only do I not age backwards but I am also way too scared of becoming roadkill...gorgeous though.
Your greese ball post killed me by the way!

When I was little, my mom and my dad used to squish me in between them when my dad would ride his Harley. Back then I thought nothing of it, but like you, the thought of it scares me!

Our son rides one...started out with a crotch rocket until he saw an accident. Sold that one right fast. He now has a really old one just like these. He loves it. Me? Scared to death..not of the motorbike but of the other idiots who don't see you coming!

i so agree with you on that! also i think i'm too small to ride one of these, not sure my short arms can stretch that far! :)

#1 wins ...love it!

I couldn't agree more. Riding in the dirt is much easier b/c you don't have to worry about any jackwads ramming into you. And I'd be getting one of those beauties too! :)

My favorite part of this post was the tag you gave it - Too Bad I Can't Afford This. Hilarious.

I'm not a motorcycle person at all, but they're pretty to look at!

My man LOVES vintage bikes. He's obsessed. He can't afford to be too obsessed though:D
He has a really old BSA which he is prettying up.But the bulk of his collection lies in magazines! He's ridden bikes forever, and used to ride a harley. They are lovely looking machines, but i still worry every time he goes out on one!
I've tried to ride a dirt bike on my parents farm.....hehe.
My dad has a Triumph, which he rides only very occasionaly....on dirt roads....without a helmet. O_o I told him that was fucking stupid,(they may not have been the exact words :) ) so now he wears a helmet.

A few months back the Mongol motorcycle gang was busted by the FBI here in the southland. All their bikes went on the police auction block, I would have given my left nut for one of those puppies.
