La Luz de Jesus Gallery presents Krystopher Sapp, "The Devil's Hand Minor", June 5 - 28, 2009.

Assemblage artist Krystopher Sapp likes to stay locked up in his studio and create highly detailed, dark and twisted worlds in the form of mixed media assemblage. For “The Devil’s Hand Minor,” Sapp has created a 14 piece show based on the Tarot’s “Suit of Swords,” focusing on the meanings and emotion that each card carries. While Sapp has incorporated dark elements in each piece, he also makes sure that every one is pleasing to the eye.

Inspired by his favorite horror and sci-fi movies, war history books and intense nightmares, his works are cultivated from fear and molded into beauty. Sapp uses found objects and items purchased at Home Depot - the place he calls his “art supply store.”

By day, Sapp is a commercial artist and has created album cover, t-shirt and poster art for bands such as Demented Are Go, Meteors, Necromantics, Tiger Army, 45 Grave, Penis Flytrap, Zombie Ghost Train and many others.

I love this type of work. This is great. there is an artist that I exhibit with and have worked with a few times who does type of assemblages just like this. Her name is Anna Hagan.
i'll have to email a few photos of some of her work from a past show if thats cool with you.

so awesome...

I have a drollgirl challenge for ya (only if you feel like it of course). I seriously love your taste in art...but obvs, can not buy originals. Would you mind doing a post on prints, etc of affordable/semi-affordable art? (like under $500 unless it is super duper special:)

hope you are having a wonderful weekend!!!

This shit scares me. It is funny that it reminds me of my mom and dad's wall of crosses (yes they are religious) but this wall of crosses freaks the shit out of me. I always sing horror songs to them when I am staring at them.

I love his work, beautiful and dramatic. It's great that he buys his supplies at Home Depot... :)

This sort of mixed-media assemblage art is right up my alley! (Ahem)

'Knight of Swords' might be my absolute fave, but they are ALL so great! I want to see them in person, as photos rarely ever do justice to this kind of work.

Thanks for sharing Krystopher Sapp's awesome art with us!

These are really well done, but I think they would give me nightmares if I looked at them too long. They remind me of that J.Lo movie "The Cell",where she goes into the sick mind of a serial killer.Weird.
