Oooo, I love those. I love animals, all kinds. They are so beautiful.

I know you said no comments on the last post but I'm going to comment anyhow. Because I can. And I will.

Sometimes the hardest things to do are ultimately the right thing. I hope you find peace with your decision because you deserve happiness. *hugs to you*

Whoever said animals don't have complex emotions is bonkers. It's so obvious, when you look at their faces. The lion couple is my favorite.
Snooty snotty mankind and his superiority. Humans are the only animal unable to adapt to their environment in a natural way. I don't think we belong on this planet, and for that I am sorry for and grateful to the other animals.

Very nice. The monkey screaming reminds me of me! Hope you are doing ok.

These are beautiful. Makes me want to go to Africa and South America to see these amazing creatures. The zoo doesn't quite cut it. Though I do love visiting there too.

I seriously feel like that screaming gorilla. I've had the most horrid of mornings and feel like yelling at everyone in my path. My pg13 mouth suddenly wants to let out the vilest things. I'll spare you.

Enjoy your weekend :)

p.s. sorry for the cruddy card yesterday, I wanted to send a better one but the darn site won't let me use a credit card without a US billing address.

So Majestic!
Except the Zebras, I love Zebras, they make think of Burros that have been painted for Mardi Gras...Maybe that is why I love them.

these types of photos always make me feel kind of small, like there's so much more out there than my little world that i think so highly of sometimes. it's humbling and a good reality check.

Absolutely stunning images! What is it about B/W photography? It just always seems to capture something special, magical even, that color never does...

Actually, a lot of the magic is created by the photographer, especially this Nick Brandt. He's terrific! And, of course, the beautiful animals are a large part of the equation.

One of my dreams is to go on a photo safari in Africa, someday. I doubt that I could match Brandt's artistry, but it would be fun trying!

Ooooh I love the one of the 2 lions

You can almost imagine they'd be like a domestic cat and they'd push their head into you.

But these babies would prob take a big bite once they'd got close enough :-)

Hope you're doing ok x

So after reading all these lovely comments about our love for animals I feel kind of sad.
Ya'll can appreciate how beautiful and special these magnificant creatures are but yet.... my guess is that most of you eat meat.
I love animals and appreciate their complex emotions, social groups and ability to communicate with eachother. Being able to make this connection means that I'm not able to consume animals. I hope that this comment doesn't offend anyone, I hope it helps someone make a connection between the gorgeous pictures in this post and the meat on your plate.

Tiffany said...

amazing! i can't imagine being the photographer that captures these images. the experience alone has to be incredible but then taking these photos... wow.

5th photo down - I swear the photographer broke into my house this morning, just as I was waking up, and took that photo of me! What are his details? I need to press charges! xx

The Haute-Shopper said...

Gorgeous. I love how these show how majestic animals truly are. I also see some 'human' aspects in these... not sure if the photographer was going for these, but there are traits such as intimacy, family, love, togetherness, power etc. that are so beautifully captured. Thanks for sharing! And hope you had a great weekend!
