Oh I love her stuff!!
Its funny the first one made me remember when I was a kid I used to buy those fake Popeye cigarettes all the time and pretend to smoke. When I was like 7 or 8,I also bought one of those gag store ones that actually looks like its burning and brought it to church and hung around the side of the building being the badness rebellious kid that I was..bahaha..

Gorgeous photos. I can remember going to the corner store and buying those candy cigs. I'd walk around "smoking" trying to shock people.

stunning work! fabulously intriguing. The Shiva at Whistle Creek piece is amazing with the water flow and lighting. Reading "Damaged Child" is just so heartbreaking. I'm going back to look at more!! :)

beautiful work...these remind me of the children i used to work with and therefore they make me very sad. there's a loss of innocence here that you can never get back...an understanding of things that shouldn't be understood at such a young age. the artist probably understands these things wholeheartedly and that is why she is able to convey them in such a raw manner.

**hello, i'm the obnoxious long comment that won't end. hehe

These are fantastic, in a really dark kind of way. Damaged Child in particular. But wow, the beauty in some of those girls' fierce looks, straight at the camera... I hope to god they have that strength when they grow up.

so beautiful... and almost magical!

Fantastic composition on all of these. I have never heard of this artist. Makes me wonder what these little girls are like in "real life".

btw, I loved the candy cigs as a child. Especially the ones with the red tips that looked like they were lit.

OH MY GOD. The first one used to be all over myspace back in the day, and I thought it was so creepy and cool...so to see her work outside of fucking myspace is INCREDIBLE. (Eww I hate referencing myspace. Still be my friend?)

I looooooove these!!

So, so amazing - what to say - thank you!

she is so tremendously talented...a huge inspiration. her work was very controversial bc of the way that she photographed her kids and how it was perceived. but there's no denying that she is a photography icon. love these images you've posted here!

Amazing work, I'd seen some of her photographs in the past (ie: myspace) but I didn't know the name of the artist. I love 'Damaged Child' and yes, it is a bit disconcerting to see little girls with such serious and rather 'adult' expressions. A bit disconcerting right?

Desperately amazing. I love them for some reason. Maybe they remind me of me.

Can you imagine candy cigarettes today?

I "smoked" them all the time.

Those are beautiful. I love the juxtaposition of the children and the grown-up posturing with the cigarette, the pearls and attitude.

(I did not know you were looking for a vietnamese bride. I'll keep an eye out for ya.)

Very interesting photo of these young girls. I think the ones of the girls with no shirts on at an older age are unique (in a way that I can't decide is good or bad yet).
Even so, my favorites are definitely Jessie at 5, The New Mothers and Virginia at 9. So amazing.

wow. that's really intense shots. what's scary is to think that these little girls are not acting that intense, tragic look.
it's beautiful but makes me a bit uneasy.
