Do you remember the first time you ever had a drink?

I was seven when I met a new neighbor named Lisa. She was my age and came from a rough and tumble family. She invited me over to her house one day, and her parents were having a party. Lots of long-haired greasy biker dudes and haggard chicks were sitting around smoking and chugging beer. Lisa asked me if I had ever drank beer, and I said something like, "No, my dad is a preacher and we never get to do anything fun". She asked if I wanted to try beer and of course I said yes. So we went in the the kitchen and started drinking the warm beer that was left in discarded glasses and bottles. Klassy. Real klassy. :)

HA! i had my first taste of beer when i was around 7 too. i always wanted to try it because it looked like a type of soda. during a family party, my drunk grandpa, aka my hero, gave me a sip and i almost gagged. i was expecting more of a 7-up taste.

when i was 11 or 12, my best friend and i would make "cocktails" from her dad's bar. these drinks included rum, coke, fruit punch, vodka, tequila and maybe a splase of 7-up (i was big on 7-up for some reason). it was foul but we drank until we felt buzzed.

gosh, i guess i've been an alcoholic for most of my life! haha.

LOL, I can totes picture this! So klassy :)
My grandfather let me take a sip of his beer when I was about 5 (what, don't all grandparents do that?) but I nearly spat it in his face. I couldn't believe how we could drink that stuff. To me it tasted like dirty feet - not that I know what that tastes like.
Happy weekend, drolly!

So did you get drunk?

Iva said...

HAHA! I think I was probably about 7 too. I used to always want the foam part of it...no idea, I never actually liked it, still don't at all. My parents were always pretty laid back about it...although, with them being European I feel like that's more 'normal' there, to let kids have 'a sip' lol. I barely ever have a drink now, if I do its a glass of wine here or there with a meal...so either their plan worked out by letting me opening having some as a kid...or I'm just that boring! lol

Have a great weekend lovely!! ...and..you really one are classy gal, truly ;)

Remember the old Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler commercials from the early 1980s? My mom thought they were neat little bottles, so would buy the four packs and share them around, one for her and one each for me and my brothers.

As much as I drink these days, you'd think I'd remember by first one... my long term memory sucks. COuld be all the drugs in high school... i'm just sayin.

Well, besides tasting my parents' drinks, my first "unsupervised" drink was the summer after my freshman year of high school. I was in LA, hanging out with a new friend, and we drank a beer (gasp!). I also had my first real kiss later that night. I bet the two were correlated. Hahaha.

Ha, that's gross! I honestly don't remember my first drink. But I do like me a good glass of wine now and I do remember the first time I tried wine. Thought it tasted like cat piss...or what I would think cat piss would taste like-ha!

Happy Weekend!

Probably with my grandpa when I was around 7 or 8...he's a dapper fellow and always had a stocked bar...Gab and I used to play "bartender" and pretend to mix drinks but really make Shirley Temples...however sometimes...he might have allowed us to "taste"

Im just sayin.

My aunts wedding. I was six and the flower girl. After the toast everyone left their cheap champagne glasses on the tables which I properly drank up their leftovers. Not a lot has changed in 27 years.

K.Line said...

Klassy indeed! My parents let me drink an ounce of red wine with dinner (when they were having it) so I was hard core from the get go :-)

At a wedding when I was a kid, I remember there were two different punch tables, one alcoholic and one not. I guess I had not known the difference. I got wasted when I was like 6..bahaha. so not my fault.

After that I didn't get drunk again til I was 13, I got drunk on Rum Chocoloate Shakes with my best friend and her dad's unfermented wine..totally nasty ass. it was fun though.

Sam said...

Oh man! You little tear away!! I can't remember my first drink but I really remember the first time I got drunk - it was on Black Russians (some sort of eveil spirit and coke) - deary me! I've not touched one since! Have a good one!!

The funny thing is most beer here is served warm. The Mr. pointed this out. It's still "good" beer though (cask ale brewed and all). I don't remember my first alcohol experience but I do remember going to Italy when I was 13 and being amazed I was being served wine! That and Ace of Base. Aaaaah the 90s.

I think I was 12 left at home with my 11 year old step sister - we drank baileys and milk - yum!

haha...I'm pretty sure it was from my parents making me try a sip of wine or beer (just a sip, don't look at me like that!!!). the first time I got drunk, it was with my dad's everclear and OJ with some friends. why we chose that garbage, I'll never know. we filled it up with water after and to this day it's all cloudy on the bar lol. I never told them. I don't know why he keeps that bottle...it must remind him of his youth!

Oh Drolly, that's too funny! I've always been allowed to sip on beer, so it never occurred to me to "drink" it until high school, and then I immediately got sick because I drank it too fast. I like your story better.

My Grandpa gave me my first drink I think, probably when I was about your age, only half a small glass, white wine he always drank by bottles!! /sigh/
I *did* think it was pretty klassy at the time! lol!

(Of course loong years later Grandma said he was 'an alcoholic' though he never fessed up!! /sigh/)

my first time was something similar...except I was about 9 and the drinks were some lemon ice champagne shit at a family party...it might have even been new years. I was throwing up all night. I probably had a sip and my parents were all confused...I told them I drank some of the ice that everyone was having...lol
