I think it must be difficult to stand in the shadows of a famous celebrity sibling, particularly if people think you are a loser with no talent and that you are trying to glom on to your more famous sibling's success you are trying to make a name in the same industry.
P.S. For the most part, I think there are many reasons why the folks shown above aren't as popular as their famous siblings. But there is one exception: Charlie Murphy. I think he is as funny if not funnier that his famous brother Eddie. FOR REALS. I am also a pretty big fan of Chris Penn, and it sucks that he died so young.

Oh to be a sibling of a celebrity! It's gotta be hard!! I actually met Frank Stallone once & heard him play...he's really nice in person. There's a funny scene in the movie "Fred Clause" where the siblings talk about their actor siblings & Stephen baldwin is like "I'm not Alec!!". hehe. =)
It might be kind of nice to benefit from the fame without having the drawbacks of being the center of attention.
I say be UNIQUE..be your own person. Don't follow in someone else's shadow. Make your own mark on the world!

Angelina Jolie's brother is a scary looking dude. Just goes to show that the same features that make a woman hot don't apply to men. Agree with you on Chris Penn. I also think Eric Roberts would have been a bigger star if it wasn't for his attitude and slight overacting.

I'm an only. I don't know the sibling thing at all. I am sure in some cases its tough, especially in the cases where the sibling is trying super hard to make it too but aren't catching a break other then being a celebs sibling. In other cases though, some of them aren't trying too hard but do catch some spotlight just because of being a sibling to a celeb. and since I can't seem to put together a sentence today I am going to stop leaving this comment right now! oiy.

BTW, and speaking of the Penns, did you know that Sean Penn has taken up as manager of an aid camp in Haiti? He always kind of amazes me - how easy would it be for him to just write a check and forget about it, but instead he lives in a crappy tent to try and help as much as he can. Kind of awesome.

The Sedaris siblings seem to handle it well. Despite all of David's neurotic compulsions, sibling rivalry doesn't seem t be one of them. But the rest of them, wonder what Christmas at their house is like...

It would kinda suck being the invisible sibling...but then if you were on really good terms with your famous rich brother or sis, they might give you free airline tickets and stuff. If you begged hard enough. I would! (i mean, i wouldn't give my family airline tickets, but i would beg for them if necassary)

We have a bunch of these in Australia too...like Dannii Minogue (feel so sorry for her as she's the famous "lesser sibling" in the UK as well), Antonia Kidman (Nicole's sister who is a TV entertainment reporter) and Lester Gibson, Mel's saner but uglier brother.

Chris Penn dying was so very sad. And yeah, I feel for celebrity siblings...although sometimes the only reason they're famous at all is because of their more famous bro or sis. I don't think they are all artists in their own right...rather they have a built in publicist in their family!
