Bharti Kher (born 1969) is an artist based in Delhi.

She studied at the Middlesex Polytechnic, Cat Hill, London from 1987 - 1988 and at the Polytechnic, Newcastle, England from 1988 - 1991. She received the BA Honours, Fine Art, Painting at the Foundation Course in Art & Design Newcastle.

Kher was born in London.

In her work, Kher repeatedly uses manufactured versions of traditional Indian bindi to adorn cast sculptures – often of animals – and wall-hung panels. Her work references identity through consumer culture, gender and race, reflecting her own background.

At first I thought - Oh no don't tell me - it's a dead elephant. Thank goodness - no.
I'd much rather this on my lawn than the skull sculpture 'thing'. And yes - why sperm? Maybe it's a bindi that looks very like sperm.
