Have you ever been to a bullfight? I was on vacation in Mexico once, and my friends dragged me to a bullfight. My stomach was in knots just anticipating the fight, and the actual bullfight was worse than what I had imagined it would be. I was so saddened by it all, and of course I was rooting for the bull, even though I really didn't want to see a matador get injured. I ended up leaving the fight within minutes -- I could not handle it. I just kept thinking: What did the bull do to deserve this?

I saw this recently in the papers & was like OMG!!! That poor guy!! I would never run with the bulls or be a matador but I would go to a fight or watch the running with the bulls. I think they are too dangerous animals tho!!

This is just crazy. I will never understand why people treat hurting animals as an entertainment, and in a way it serves him right that the bull got him first.

I couldn't handle it either. It's just so sad and even though I understand it's an age old tradition and has significant cultural value, I still think it's too sad to watch.

ugh... never have, never will!

I don't want to say he deserved it, but nature always gets the best of mankind. Nature got its revenge that day.

omg. how horrifying!!

we went to a bullfight in France once. I was on vacation with my parents and sister and we were staying in this small town in the south of France and they had a bullring and so we caught a fight one night. It was madness. people were going CRAZY and wwe jsut sat there mesmerized by how barbaric it was but also by the audience's reactions. and it was like a train wreck that we couldn't look away from...

OMG that was the craziest thing I have ever seen!! I don't think I could ever go to a bullfight. I just don't think I could watch an animal get hurt that way.

Kellie said...

I would be thinking the same thing as you which is why I could never bring myself to go to one. I don't have it in me to watch a helpless animal get slaughtered in such a way. Poor bull.

i got myself in yet another compromising situation today. boo.

"Every once in a while, the sport turns dark..."
Hahaha...

This is horrible. I feel so much worse for the bull at the beginning than the matador at the end.

Bullfights should be outlawed. It is horrifying!

My children were glad we moved because in our old neighborhood the high school was the Monta Vista Matadors, and I was ready to go protest.

I'm too scared to watch the video but I did read about it. Haven't been to a bullfight yet, and i'm not interested in going to one either!

This summer, as part of a 'team-building' event for my group at work, I have to attend a rodeo, an event I've always avoided like the plague. Shoot me in the face, I would rather choke to death than witness the bull-riding, calf-roping, steer-wrestling giant step in the wrong direction that is the annual Stampede. I will be the one person, probably in tears, cheering every time a cowboy gets what he deserves.

I love seeing an animal fight back and win.

And I accept any and all ideas as to how I can avoid attending this manadatory work event.

I would never be able to go to bullfight do not see any sport or glory in torturing an animal. If I were a bull I would be consumed with revenge fantasies.

Wow, that video is blocked in the UK but I saw the description on his site - quease inducing.

While Orson Welles, whom I admire pontificated on the culture, majesty of the bulls and the mystery of the ring - at the end of the day it is as cruel as hunting foxes and other creatures for sport.

So as you might know I'm a 60 Minutes freak. They've showed that one piece about those Spanish bullfighting brothers about 50 times and I've watched it every single time because I think the younger one is HOT. But the last time I watched it I was really appalled by the actual act of bullfighting. I guess I never knew how gory and terrible it was until recently. I think it's because I never fully believed something like that could actually be legal. I had no idea those festive looking colorful things had knives in them!!!

Lorena said...

I had heard about it but had not seen the actual image.
I dont know how you made it through the door.
I am always on the bulls side, could care less what happens to the Matador. You do not kill for entertainment. GO BULL!

Pretty Little World said...

I saw this and was like, "It's about time the bull won." And then of course, they killed the bull anyway.

I get that people need adrenaline rushes, but it seems to me that sticking pointy spears into an animal until is slowly bleeds to death is not the best way to go about it.

Holy crap! I'm not down with any sport that involves people and animals, as a rule, excluding horse racing. Okay, I do love me some Triple Crown. Crazy stuff there, have a fab weekend!

good for the bull.
i hope he made it out alive too.
(that was just freaky -- out through his mouth!!!)

CAN'T BELIEVE HE MADE IT OUT ALIVE. His horn, too, lol.

Asylum Dolly said...

I'm with you, drollski. What did the poor bull do to get speared by some dude in a fancy waistcoat???
I would've walked out too. I can't handle that shit. I don't feel too sorry for the guy, but FUCK that would've caned. Caned? I sound like a surfer or something. Um, HURT, is the word I'm after!

May your weekend be awesome! And if there are any horns involved, may they be the naughty kind that is attatched to a hot man of your choosing.

I'm on the side of the bull. I hate bloodsports.

These matadors that get into the ring with these bulls are CRAZY...literally at that!!!
I feel for the man that got injured, but respectfully he WAS taunting the bull...sooo he can't say he didn't have it coming.

P.S. I bought RED lipstick.

SabinePsynopsis said...

Although I can't watch the video I feel exactly the same about bull fights and I'm very tempted to shout 'Serves him right' when a bull fighter gets injured. (Actually, I might even shout it, at home.) Pure cruelty!

The Cottage Cheese said...

Yeah, I just about threw up when I saw the clip on Colbert the other night. Actually makes me feel nauseated just thinking about it. Not that I would really wish this to happen to anyone, but perhaps bullfighters should know what it's like to BE the bull. I hate the sport. I know it's a tradition and all, but it really is animal cruelty.
