Weird

Last night a friend and I went on an art walk in the Eagle Rock and Highland Park area of Los Angeles. It is a fun and free night out (the second Saturday of every month), and it is usually pretty interesting. The crowd is rather entertaining, even if they art usually isn't.

Anywhoo, a shop on Eagle Rock Blvd. (I stupidly forgot to write down the name of it) had some of these fantastic Creepy Dolls. Of course I wanted to buy them all. LOL.

If you like these Creepy Dolls, you can find them for sale here.

Random side note....we were driving to one gallery and trying to find parking when my friend said, "Nope. No way. We aren't going to this one." I was eating a  ridiculously delicious cookie from Cookie Casa and I was flying high on sugar and having trouble processing rational thoughts. I finally mumbled, "Why?" when she pointed out that there were about 100 (NO JOKE) bicyclists in front of the gallery. A gang of bicyclists?!?!? What the hell? She couldn't believe that I had never seen or heard of them before. Apparently they ride their bikes out at night in packs and "take over" certain areas. Weird. Totally weird.

On my way home later that night, I ran into the bike gang again. They were ALL OVER Eagle Rock Blvd. There were so many of them.  They had swarmed all over the street, and they were weaving in and out of traffic, crossing lanes where they shouldn't, and some were honking their bike horns like maniacs. DING DING!  DING DING!  DING DING!  It was like PeeWee's Big Adventure + Assault on Precinct 13. So strange.

Whoa! you changed your banner! Effective.
I hate hate hate dolls and yet these are some how right up my ally. I esp. adore the top one with her skull on the outside :0

Cycle gangs, huh? I'm sorry, it just makes me laugh. Of course it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt and then we know who's fault it will be regardless of how reckless the "other" party is.

Omg, I'm going to have nightmares now. Thanks.

Sounds like an awesome night :) We have a lot of weirdos in Phoenix too, especially downtown, so I can really picture what you're describing! Sweet new banner too

1. I want to make sweet sweet love to your new banner.

2. I often wake up in the morning looking like Doll Numero Uno. Who knew a daisy behind each ear was the key to an early AM jumpstart?

OMG!!! they are all totally creepy BUT THE 3RD from the bottom?! ACK!! UBER CREEPY! LOL I love that they are on Etsy & I like the hair on the 2nd to last one too LOL. and 100 bicyclists?! ONE HUNDRED?! SHEESH!! Thats about 99 too many.

random...on the note of PeeWee...so the little adult place where he was caught years back is in Sarasota FL {I can't totally remember what it was all about?!} ...which just so happens to be on this SUPER large street that I have to go on pretty much to where ever I need to go to...and I shake my head every time I pass it...although its no longer what it was when he was in there...but still. ok. enough on my nonsense.

Hope you are having a nice weekend!!

I kind of like the creepy dolls - not that I would want them sitting on my desktop year round but would be a cool Halloween decoration as they for sure are creepy.

This could be a way to rescue damaged and no longer loved dolls from going to a landfill to serve a useful purpose. No legs? No problem! All the better for the creepy category. Lord knows my son has enough G.I. Joe's in his old toybox that fit that bill.

Bicycle gangs??? Now that really does creep me out - total Twilight Zone! I guess if you really make them mad, they would throw their Gatorade at you.

Love the new banner, sweetie;-)
I was drawn to the first doll. Art can be odd and strange - and at the same time there is beauty in strangeness. Art is indeed the daughter of freedom;-)
Happy Monday!

Why did I read this before going to bed? Most importantly, why do people make this? No really, why?

Love the new header!

I kind of don't like regular dolls, but sort of want one of these. Is it weird that I think these are less creepy than "normal" looking dolls? And clowns. I'd take one of these over a clown doll any day.

Apparently there are cities across the country that are having difficulty with rude bicyclists. Like people screaming profanities at random drivers, purposefully hogging lanes and then slowing down, kicking cars at stop signs/lights... WTF is going on?

Shorty said...

I like creepy art but those dolls fall into the 'horrific' category for me. I couldn't hack having one in my house. I'd be afraid it would turn into Chuckie!

Cheryl said...

Wow, those dolls are amazing! Funny (but horrible) things to give my little nieces. And what great characters they'd make in some illustration!

Kitty Stampede said...

these are nuts creepy. it's funny cause i find dolls that are normal even creepier...is that possible?!? maybe not, i dunno. the vintage ones at least.

The doll with the teeth is by far creeping me out the most.

My first thought on seeing these was "hmm..they look like "bastet- creepy one of a kind dolls" and i clicked the link and voila! Some of them are awesome! Some of them are a little TOO creepy!! but clever nonethesless! I like the dia de los muertos ones.

And the bicycle gang is a very WEIRD concept. And annoying. I'd be tempted to run them down.

That artwalk thing sounds like a cool idea!

These dolls are not cute!! NOT CUTE!!

I love your description of the bicycle gang- LOL!

Them dolls are creepy and cool but I couldn't have one anywhere near my bed at night... too many scary movies under my belt to fall for that one. Also, the art walk sounds amazing! As a sad little Pomona resident I try to attend the one we have here once a month at the Art Walk, but I know it's sad by comparison. Lastly, that 'Bike Gang' sounds hilarious!! I know the whole biking and messenger community is an underworld of it's own but that's just toooo funny. I so need to see'em in person.

asweetcakes said...

eh....why would anyone make, much less buy, dolls that look like that!?!?!?!?!

How do you feel about joining the Bike Gang? :D
