I went for a pedicure today, and all went well. Whew. Sometimes I am not so lucky at nail salons.
I kind of dread going in for a mani/pedi. I kind of hate dealing with the whole thing of sitting there for a half an hour plus, engaging in mind-numbing chit chat, hoping they will do a good job, yada yada. But I reallly don't want to do my OWN feet, so I endure the process on occasion.
If you frequent a nail salon for a while, you quickly learn which ladies do a good job, and which ones don't. I used to go to this place in West Hollywood all the time: All Star Nails. It didn't take long for me to figure out that the older woman with a station at the very back of the shop always did a CRAP job. Just horrible. It was kind of like she was over the job (can't say I blame her), and that she was repulsed by human touch (lady you're in the wrong business). She flat-out refused to do pedicures. MAJOR ATTITUDE. And she always seemed to be sporting a really ugly sneer on her face. I really couldn't stand her.
So anyway, one day I went into this nail salon and they told me to go to the back station and that this old warhorse lady would do my mani/pedi. So I said, "No, I don't like that one." Well, maybe that wasn't the most TACTFUL thing to say, but you would have thought I had detonated a bomb in the shop. The ladies went WILD. Everyone was yammering at full tilt in Vietnamese, no doubt at the AUDACITY I had to say I didn't want service from Madam Lackluster. Whatever. On to the next nail salon! LOL.
The shot above isn't so great, and I blame my cat Peanut. Any time I am laying down, he is all over me. THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! HA. It makes me laugh, but it isn't always conducive to taking photos or reading a book.
And if any of you noticed my HORRENDOUS swollen right ankle in the pic above, I am fully aware of how jacked up it is. I sprained my ankle over a year ago, and it just REFUSES to heal properly. Annoying!
This post is all over the map. Please forgive. It is 400 degrees here today, and I just cannot think. But at least my toes look good. LOL.
P.S. One more random note...I scored this adorable little painting for $44. FORTY FOUR DOLLARS FOR AN ORIGINAL PAINTING. Stoked!!! STOKED!!!!!
