Do any of you watch Breaking Bad?
I recently started watching the DVDs, and I am hooked (pardon the expression). It was a little slow going at first, but HOT DAMN it is good. Real good. Stressful. Intense. And it makes you think about what you would do if you were diagnosed with cancer, you weren't sure if you would live, and what desperate/illegal measures you might employ to get treatment and to ensure your family's financial security.
This show kind of makes me appreciate myboring simple life.
This show kind of makes me appreciate my
I love LOVE two characters in the show: the male lead (played by Bryan Cranston), and the brother-in-law (played by Dean Norris). Gawd they are good. REAL GOOD. SO good!!!! I cannot stand the other male character. CANNOT STAND HIM. He is a young drug dealer (played by Aaron Paul), and he bugs the hell out of me -- maybe because he looks and acts like an Eminem version of a stupid young punk drug dealer. Maybe that is a realistic character/portrayal? Maybe? I don't know, but I just can't stand him [and I know I wouldn't buy drugs from him - LOL].
I don't like the women in the show either. The wife (played by Anna Gunn) irritates me to no end. Maybe because she is a stereotype of a wife? Or maybe I am just sensitive to how women are portrayed? Or maybe I have been the nagging malcontent chick in a relationship and watching her just puts me on the defensive? I don't know. But I think the most successful shows and movies have characters that you love, and characters that you loathe. So, needless to say, I'll keep watching this show, FOR SURE.
And kudos to you Bryan Cranston for the FANTASTIC job you do on this show. Well done. :)

I had full intention of catching that show will it was on, and then totally missed that boat. Same with Mad Men.
TV as DVD is still something I have to consider. It seems a bit ambitious for my lazy butt.
Laura Linney in the new "The Big C", is a milder, consideration of living out your best options in dis-ease.
"Nurse Jackie" hard to watch in a good way, as well as "Weeds", and "United States of Tara". Watching folks make choices similar to that last girl in any and all horror flicks, gets the same view reaction...."No, don't go in there"!
Cheers!...Somebody went down but it wasn't us.
My fiance is OBSESSED with this show. Talks about it non stop, complains when the season ends, gets excited when it begins, etc etc. I don't watch but I plan to someday!
blog response: my niece just turned 7 months old and her number at the clinic is #22, which is the day she's born :P
i always wonder if i'd become a couch potato if i lived in the states. i can go w/o tv for a long time but i can also be hooked if i forget to unhook myself. we don't get the popular series quick here, so i just don't follow them. i'm probably the only person who's never watched SATC.
that's a great show! and it only gets better :) Bryan Cranston is great. But Matthew Fox still should've won the emmy over him!! haha
I will totally check it out. I have 4 1/2 month increments when I'm so busy, I could literaly skip wiping in the bathroom to give myself a few extra minutes each day (I haven't taken that step yet), then about a month of nothing. During that last break I watched every episode of Arrested Development because I'm the only loser in the world that hadn't seen it. I'll check this out on my next break.

I've heard how good it is. Love Bryan Cranston!
I LOVE this show. I'm a faithful watcher.
I also watch MadMen and until recently (when A&E screwed me over) I watched the "cleaned-up" version of The Sopranos.
I'm missing The Sopranos wicked hard! hee hee
Damn, I must be out of the loop.
I've never even HEARD of it.
never heard of it but I'll check it out!
Now I want to see it! And hey! Did you change some things around here?
i was just telling boyfriend about this show! i haven't seen it yet but i've heard excellent things about it. and now that it's drollgirl approved, i will be sure to tune in. wooo!!!
sorry. i'm on a wooo kick right now.
mondays...bah. have a good day!
i haven't seen this yet, but i'll check it out since you like it...what's getting addicted to yet another show? hahaha
right now i'm being a complete nerd by catching up on reality tv and gossip girl : /
I have seen it but kind of lost track of it.
I thought it was something so DIFFERENT to anything I had seen before... I am wondering what channel they have it on now..
Hmmm for some reason I had myself convinced that this was a show about Danny Bonaduce (sp) so I've avoided it completely! Maybe I'll give it a shot
I love this show!! I have only seen the first season but I heard it gets darker from there (yippy:)) Happy to hear that the wife drives someone else nuts as well.
I have never heard of it, but like how you describe it. I will def check this out!
I don't think they show Breaking Bad here in the UK, but anything that makes one appreciate one's boring life more must be good! Will check out the DVDs.
I've watched every episode! I can't remember if it's season two or three but there are lots of jaw dropping moments! I also am annoyed by Walt's wife.
Where are you at on Lost??
Is this another show you're going to get me "addicted" too? Because I took your advice about Tosh.0, and now I have hoarded a whole DVR or episodes so I can watch his acerbic wit whenever I get the itch for a fix.
i've heard of this show but never had an interest until now. you should charge AMC a PR fee.
I don't watch television, but your review is really good.
Eep. The US health system makes me sad. I remember in Sicko there was one guy who couldn't quit his job because he needed his health insurance to pay for his cancer meds.
I hadn't heard of this show bu tI'll try check it out when I'm in the US next month!
Now I'm off to double-check that my travel insurance covers enough millions for health care.
We watched the first two seasons on DVD over the summer and LOVED it. This show is so well-written and acted - Bryan Cranston is fantastic. I'm pretty partial to Aaron Paul's character, but you're absolutely right about the women, esp. the wife - that woman drives me up the wall.
I can't wait until the third season is out on dvd!
my BF loves this show...ive watched the first season or 2 but i dont love it as much as he does :)
We JUST started watching this last night -- finished disc one.
loving it!!!
it's a little dexter-ish; so good!
oh, p.s. i heard bryan cranston is going to be hosting snl this week.
I will add this one to my list for when grad school is done.
never heard of it. i totally trust your judgement. i do find it hard to jump on the whole tv series train that everyone is into lately. i don't know what it is.
i guess cause i'm so behind and there are sooo many. and sooooooo many movies i need to see first. etc.
I agree with your analysis of the show 100%. Love it! The cinematography is amazing. I've watched all of the seasons, and Aaron Paul's character does seem to get less annoying, but is still somewhat unlikeable. But still, I hate guys like that, therefore it's hard to be sympathetic for the character. Bryan Cranston is an amazing actor - both dramatic and comedic. He's hosting SNL this week, yay!
Just realised it's on our free-to-air network here. i should be able to watch it online for free. Yippe.
I just watched the first three episodes of season one on your recommendation and you are right! So intense. Holy moley. So good. I m hooked too.
Haven't watched it yet, but, can we hate "Hung" together??
I love this show!! It gives me a mild heart attack but i can't stop watching it.
