Chair Fetish

For some reason I have a chair fetish. I just love chairs. Maybe it is their shape? Maybe because the design styles are so varied...from elegant, to imposing, to luxurious, to comfortable? Maybe because they represent dining, rest and relaxation? I don't know. But I love chairs. And these chairs at the upcoming Wright Important Design Sale on June 29, 2011 are just AWESOME. Love them! All of them.

Lovely examples. My dad has always had fab chairs... the Wassily/Breuer chair being my favorite. Also the Le Corbusier Chairs!

So, this last summer I did a piece called "Chairs." It was all about how chairs play a role in society, denote wealthy, status, and security. I never thought of chairs the same way and I love that you blogged about them here. So artistic and meaningful.

Oh god I love chairs too! I wish I had a bigger place so I could fill it with cute little seating areas.
Love all of these except that one that looks like a brain. ;)
My faves are the Nakashimas and the Frank Lloyd Wright chair. Swoon for that color!

Egg chairs sorta bug me.

As does the Brain Chair.

I like chairs for all that sitting nonsense.

Most of these look painful.

I collect cats, so I guess I have a cat fetish. Everybody's got some kind of damn fetish.

Love you.

They all look fantabulous, but how comfortable do you think they are;)

I worked for a pervert when I was 18 who had a chair in his office that was the shape of a hand. So your ass sat in the palm of that chair. That should have been red flag # 1 that he was going to be a pervert. Red flag # 2 was his name was Bart.

Those are cool. And I really like the way they were set up and shot. The photography & styling gives them even more personality.

I would love to get interesting chairs in my house. Mine are so boring and plain. I want a house with personality, and these chairs would definitely help with that.

Also, like the commenter above me already stated, I love the way that these chairs were photographed because you get a clear picture of what the chair looks like, but it also looks like a piece of art.

I have a mutual love and I'm stealing three of these images and possibly doing an uncreative post of my own. These are wonderful. The Bugatti is my favorite.

Some of those are pretty cool, some look painful, and the first one looks like a torture device!

You really know how to pick em. The set of six are my favorite. I'll take em all. Appropriately tagged "too bad I can't afford this".

Although it's not the one that I'd put in my house first, the George Nelson chair is my favorite - it looks like a big butterscotch candy!

They ARE cool. I especially love the Pawel Grunert and the Afra and Tobia Scarpa ones. Have you invested in chairs yet, J?

ME TOO!!!! I freaking love chairs. I could fill my house up with them. I don't really have room right now for anymore and I can't just have them all spattered about at random, can I ?!
Your picks are incredible. I am drooling all over my keyboard and floor.
