Sometimes I feel bad for my hairdresser. She is super talented and super creative, and she gets stuck doing boring haircuts all of the time. I went in on Saturday and she asked what I wanted. I said, "Have you ever seen the movie Klute with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland?" She squealed. She said yes. I asked her to give me an updated version of that look.
Here are pics of Jane Fonda from that era (early '70's) if you aren't familiar with it.

So....I love my new 'do. But a few days into it and I am struggling to get it just right. But that is ok. It is fun, it dries fast, I don't have to bother with much more than a blow dryer, and it is fab. I can't make it look as good as my hairdresser did, but that is usually the case! I know it will be a nightmare to grow out someday, but whatever! It is only hair! :)
And I am having a helluva time getting a decent shot of my own hair [plus I am super camera-shy], so you'll just have to use your imagination! I know -- what a gyp. HA.

I know you're excited because you are using exclamation marks like crazy. Is this the influence of the manfriend? I like it!!!
My mom has that haircut, except it's a little spiky on top.
This is EXACTLY the look I Want!!! I swear! I adore it. Mine is super long and shaggy right now, and I want a change so I have been wanting to go short and shaggy and this is so it. Awesome Girl. I am so saving these photos to show my hair dresser. Thanks!! I love shags when done properly...like i love the shag the band Heart had, those were the pics I showed my hair dresser last..hehe...also love some of stevie nick's old do's too.
awww..Congrats on a super cool cut. nothing like changing things up! :)
ah! i love it. but of course, i totally want to see it on you! :)
You know, this is pretty much how I imagined your hair looked! Crazy huh?
I love it and definitely think it suits your personality!
Love a cut you can blowdry and still look stylish!
That is a great cut! Good for you for giving your hairdresser something to be excited about too :) I'm a huge shag fan, and have had variations for years. The last few cuts have been long long layers, but I'm ready for a change too, so I may be back to it soon enough!
aw too bad about the shyness. I'd love to see it. It's a great cut but I'm having a hard time imagining an updated version.
what a brave and excellent choice of cut. and, might i add, what amazing taste you have. get over the shyness, seriously. we all want to see pics!
p.s. you have the raddest logo ever.
xxx, Selena
Oh I bet it is so cute!! I had a few layers put into mine the last time...I get bored sometimes with the same look!

It's killing me a little bit that I can't see a picture of how it looks on you, though I'm sure it's adorable. :)
I have the boringest hair in the world--long, blonde, wavy, no layers, no bangs, no anything.
oh no you didn't just tease us by saying you can't get a good picture of your new fab 'do. i know you can....when will we see your face?! i NEED to know!!!
k no i don't but i adore you and i wouldn't mind putting a face to a a pseudo name. hey why don't you just post a pic of the hair. i'm curious to see what a modern version of that cut looks like.
Nice, I love it. I too can never recreate what the stylist manages to accomplish, but oh well. I am missing the days of quick easy hairstyles...
Whoa I love it! What a fun, fun hairstyle!

Ohhhh so wish I could see your do...bet it's awesome! I love a good shag cut...so hip!
Sexy and fun, I bet you look great.
love, love, LOVE that hair cut.
oooh! you are so brave! i mean, i don't know how long your hair was before, but i am always too sissy to actually style my hair. i think it's impossible to get your hair the way they do in the salon. they are so talented!
nice.
Shags are great, in any sense.
I LOVE IT! Not only because I know it looks super-cool on you, but also because my mum had the same haircut in the 70s. Naturally she wore it with Jane Fonda trousers and very short mini skirts. Little me thought she looked amazing.
Nooooooooo! I want to see! you must get your lover-boy to snap a shot. He'll make you look good. That is a rad do, sister and I am sure you are working it!

you've got great taste... fab cut.
But you totally suck for now showing yours.
;)
Oh no you di-int!!!!!!!?????!!!!!! I mean that is sooooooo Tease City. What the hell man? Camera shy or not....you owe us a pic. You do! I'll be waiting....
p.s. I do love the cut!!!!
When I saw that first picture, my stomach literally dropped. I'm not even kidding. I'll never forgive my mom for cutting my hair into a shag in 5th grade. She destroyed me!
curious about the updated version, oh, and I can't imagine you being shy because of all your posts lol. I can't blow dry my hair the way my hairdresser does either. But, I am sure you look gorgeous!
Suck it up and post a pic sister!!! BOO!
I bet you look fantastic! I tried a shag once and ended up looking like Rod Stewart. I was traumatized!!
Wow! A shag, eh? It doesn't get much cooler than that!
I would not do it on my hair - because I could never style it - but I like it.
It's very "Bieber-esque".
Ugh,... I have and extreme version of this cut. The left half is very Joan Biaz and right half is more Jim Morrison. Odd.
I love the shag! I had it in college and it was so easy to deal with. Maybe I should go back...
argh!! can you not take a picture anyway and put your cat's face over your face? :P i love that you're loving it. i thought the do back then was already supa rad. i've been toying with the idea of a bowl cut since my hair shape now really looked like a bowl. might snip off the fringe to make it 101% a bowl.

so amazing. She did a fantastic job recreating it. I love vintage Fonda, lol
