Personal Calls

doris day 6a00e5506da9978833014e8b88384b970d-800wi

doris day

Have you ever worked with somebody that gets personal calls at work ALL DAY LONG? As in their spouse calling ON THE BUSINESS LINE to discuss such important things as HOW'S YOUR DAY, WHAT'S FOR DINNER, I MISS YOU, ETC.? This drives me out of my fucking mind. Over and over this yutz keeps calling his wife to talk about stupid shit. I HATE IT. Can't you text that stuff? Email it? Call the person on THEIR CELL PHONE so that you don't interrupt the work place?  Do you really have to CALL A PLACE OF BUSINESS TO DISCUSS THIS STUPID SHIT? @#$!*?!^#?&#%!$#&!!*(!&!  I feel an intervention coming on, and it is going to be ugly.

Oh, I HATE that! Definitely feel for you on that one... I was working in one of the department offices on campus and actual secretary would do that ALL the time, so that I would have to do all her secretarial duties. It totally sucked. And it's way too mushy for me. I always need my time away from that stuff. lol It reminds me too often about how singular I am.

Much Love,
Trissta

i used to work in an office which was basically one big open office for four of us. (the assistants. we didn't get walls.)
one of the other girls used to instant message her boyfriend ALL DAY and laugh and giggle out loud. then he would call and she would whisper and giggle and talk baby talk. dude. it's enough to punch someone in the earlobe.

Haha- We would drive you nuts then- My husband and I talk on the phone a million times a day- The thing is though it's his cell phone and he's the kinda boss-He does it in his private office. I think it would be different if an employee does it and in front of others. We also don't talk gooey-

Do it. It will be annoying enough to hear when he does it on his cell, but at least you can get away from it...AND...um...I'm sure it isn't protocol at Work. To be on the Business phone. It looks bad. You can totally make it look worse. know what I mean....*mwa ha ha haaaa

So strange to call the work line instead of the cell phone. Who does that anymore?

Ohhhhhh hell no.
That kind of thing drives me crazy.

You should say something. Its a work place, hello.

Sooooooo with you on this one. How moronic are people?? There are so many ways nowadays to not do your job discretely. LIKE texting. Or emailing on your cell phone. But why would you use your work line.... for everyone to hear?!?!?!?! Idiots.

AHHH!! I used to work with this guy whose wife would call him ALL THE TIME. Seriously it got to the point that whenever I worked with him I would either let the phone ring until either she hung up or he got the phone or just pick it up and say hold on he will be a minute. Seriously either A. wait a few F$*%^ING hours it can't be THAT important or b. call his CELL PHONE. for petes sake!! I'm married and if i call my husband its on my break and IF i need to tell or ask him something....which isnt often when im at work. priorities people. GAH. (end rant!)

It would drive me insane.
The only noise I like to hear when I work is my music and me singing, nothing else.

HATE THAT!!!

I work with an old hag who has a deadbeat son who calls her ALL. THE. TIME.

I'm so rude to him. I never get her for him.

"She's working. She'll call you later."

It's a common theme now in the workplace to be that one asshole that annoys the shit out of others. I have a dude in my "team" that makes personal calls from his business phone all day. So fucking annoying. I don't care to hear about how sick your kid is every day - go take your calls on your cell phone outside in the hallway.

Libbeh said...

Oh, totally forgot to add that this asshat also likes to watch stupid YT videos LOUDLY and instant messages all day. Dude, use headphones. No one wants to hear your stupid videos or that annoying AIM message sound. Ugh. I hate my workplace.

It was so bad at one place I worked at that they banned use of cell phones except during designated break time or lunch and grounds for termination. They also installed software to monitor computer activity and those that used it for excessive personal use were the first ones downsized.

It is beyond annoying; when it gets to the point where their personal phone calls not only interrupt them doing their work but those around them, it is basically theft of company time and it should be escalated to management to address, but you are well within your right to speak up with their BS interferes with your ability to do your job.

Yup! It drives me batty. I cannot stand when people are in a store yakking their face off and being super personal and LOUD. nobody wants to hear that shit. nobody. some people are so ignorant.

awhile back I had to work across the way from this lady that would just plan her wedding all damn day and I had to hear about every aspect. First, how he proposed, then finding her venue, then it turned into her yelling at the florist/other vendors, her and her fiance/mom/wedding planner fighting over something, etc... I knew so much about her but the funny thing was, she wasn't even in the same department so I never actually spoke to her but I knew way more about her than I should have!

Anyway, I feel ya and I hate that!

I'm a secretary at a university and I have a co-secretary who I share space with. She easily averages between 10-15 phone calls a day. She makes 'em and takes 'em. She has a husband and a 35-year-old daughter at home all day, so she calls them or they call her endlessly over such urgent matters as where she put the potato chips.

Her husband babysits their 1 1/2 year old granddaughter and so at least 5 calls are made about how the baby's doing complete with over the top, loud baby talk made to said baby.

She has three sisters (one in particular) that calls her three times daily as by appointment. Then there's her adult son, his wife, his ex-wife and their three children who all check in at least once a day, including every afternoon before sonny boy leaves for work and when grandkiddos get home from school.

Oh, she has a niece that works on campus and calls every morning at exactly 9:00, as does her other work buddy who calls every day at 11:00.

I want to change departments so badly but the job is easy so I'm afraid I'll end up wishing I stayed where I am.

Sorry, for the long post, but I wanted to vent to someone. The calls today have been particularly annoying! Ugh!
