Sugar

Did you catch this 60 Minutes segment on SUGAR? Rather horrifying. After watching it I am going to try harder to cut back on the sugar. :[

Everything in moderation. There was a time when you weren't supposed to eat more than one egg a week or you were going to die from high cholesterol. Then two was okay. Now one a day is okay. These things change with the wind.

We, as a country, definitely eat too many sugary foods. And I would go further and say the sugar substitutes are just as bad.

People need to stop focusing on "Oh my God sugar is going to kill us!" and just concentrate on a healthy balanced diet.

I saw it too and was a little horrified. I eat gummy bears everyday!

I think a little bit of everything in moderation is okay, but yikes, that is kind of scary. I've got friends who have dumped sugar and wheat from their diets and are totally energized now.

I did watch it (BECAUSE I LOVE 60 MINUTES!!!!) but unfortunately the only thing the report did was make me obsess over how delicious all the treats they showed looked.

P.S. Did you see their report a few weeks ago about face blindness???? It was one of the most interesting things I've ever seen!

i used to blame some of my colleagues and friends for converting me from loving savouries to loving sweets. i've put on weight. it's probably not just the sugar intake but the fact that i don't exercise. time to wake up!

big time. sweet sweet poison. i put honey in my coffee at home and when they have it in certain coffee shops. there are some pretty decent sweetner alternatives. i find when i eat fruit early in the day i don't crave sweets as much. i do looove desserts though. i am a sucker.

...i tried these peanut butter choco chip vegan cupcakes and they were the BEST cupcakes i ever had. i am not vegan but damn they do make some killer food.

So sad. Why oh why must sugar be so bad.

...they said it right at the beginning, just like Lady GaGa:
We Were BORN This Way! *haha

It is my personal belief that FOOD is neither to be vilified nor deified - it is fuel. The Economy, however, is a different story...who do you think is making so much money on all that SUGAR? WE are. Even commercial tobacco is cured in such a way as to maximize sugars in the plant.

It isn't as if they haven't known all along "what sugar does"...like they have known all along "what cocaine does"...

So. SUGAR is not the devil...sugar refineries in 3rd world countries (Haiti was one) can wreck their economies while we (richer countries) benefit...DIABETES is usually mostly genetic and can be avoided...the "obesity epidemic" is a f&%king manufactured myth: tell your kid it is called "babyfat" and he or she will grow out of it & take a bike ride.
Sugar is not poison.
Meth is poison.
Too much of either one will rot yer teeth out ya head. *hahaha

Maybe 60minutes is wanting to add to a kerfuffle about SUGAR for even more sinister, ECONOMIC reasons...that is my guess...due to history
