This is horrendous to admit, but at a very young age I realized that my little sister was prettier, smarter, thinner and more likeable than me.  I knew I'd be playing second fiddle to her -- for life.

At a very young age it was determined that my beautiful little sister's vision was not-so-hot, and that she would have to wear glasses.  I was quietly excited about this.

The glasses that my little sister had to wear disguised her beauty -- a LOT.  I was relieved about this, and hoped hoped hoped that she would have to wear those awful glasses for a l-o-n-g time.  I knew that once those specs came off the boys would be panting after her like nobody's business.

When my little sister was able to get contact lenses in high school, the party was over for me.  The removal of glasses and resulting physical transformation TRANSFIXED those in her presence and made her even more loveable.  The boys were crazy for her.  The girls were crazy for her, too.  Everybody gushed about how gorgeous she was without those damn glasses.

Sour grapes (moi) had to sigh and get over it.  LOL!  I was such an asshole for thinking this way!!!!!

Well, you live and you learn in life, and in some ways it is kind of nice to play second fiddle.  The pressure is off.  We all have something to offer, and sometimes it is nice to just let someone else take the lead.   :)

Game Rooms

Clients recently came in to the gallery where I work and said they just bought an additional home in Las Vegas because they participate in so many poker tournaments. !!!!!!!! Talk about SERIOUS poker players! YEESH. So now these folks are in the process of buying furniture and art to decorate their swanky new poker den. !!!!!!!!!

After talking with these clients, I started searching around for game room inspiration on Pinterest, and found these interesting examples...

I currently live in a one-bedroom duplex, so my "game room" is my dining room table.  Har.

I am not a huge gamer, but it would be so awesome to have a space in the home to dedicate to game-related things -- card games, board games, tv, movies, entertainment, books, puzzles, etc.

I am usually not so interested in card games -- whenever I watch a movie that includes a poker game, I TUNE OUT because I have no idea how to play the game. I guess I should learn how to play already so that I can be a "fully functioning adult" (lol), and be able to play more than slot machines when in Las Vegas.  ;)

Truth be told, I suffer from "disinterested face" much of the time in life, so maybe I could be a decent poker player. I am sure that knowing when it is best to quit a poker game is key, if my experience with slot machines is any indication.  UGH.  In my limited experience with gambling, the money sure rolls out a lot faster than it rolls in. Then again, the excitement lies in the hope that you MIGHT win, even if odds are stacked against you.

Anyway!  If you had a game room, what would you want to include in it?  Do you have any favorite games? [I prefer games that utilize brains and/or luck/chance over games that require physical prowess! I have ZERO athletic capability, and I cannot stand video games.  I am terrible at bowling and I don't even want to try to shoot pool.  This klutz knows her limitations!  And my BIG NERD CONFESSION: my favorite game of all -- the only game that I truly love -- is SCRABBLE.  I lovelovelovelovelove SCRABBLE, and I will take on any challenger at any time!]

I think it would be nice to have a game room that included a little something for everyone!
