Game Rooms

Clients recently came in to the gallery where I work and said they just bought an additional home in Las Vegas because they participate in so many poker tournaments. !!!!!!!! Talk about SERIOUS poker players! YEESH. So now these folks are in the process of buying furniture and art to decorate their swanky new poker den. !!!!!!!!!

After talking with these clients, I started searching around for game room inspiration on Pinterest, and found these interesting examples...

I currently live in a one-bedroom duplex, so my "game room" is my dining room table.  Har.

I am not a huge gamer, but it would be so awesome to have a space in the home to dedicate to game-related things -- card games, board games, tv, movies, entertainment, books, puzzles, etc.

I am usually not so interested in card games -- whenever I watch a movie that includes a poker game, I TUNE OUT because I have no idea how to play the game. I guess I should learn how to play already so that I can be a "fully functioning adult" (lol), and be able to play more than slot machines when in Las Vegas.  ;)

Truth be told, I suffer from "disinterested face" much of the time in life, so maybe I could be a decent poker player. I am sure that knowing when it is best to quit a poker game is key, if my experience with slot machines is any indication.  UGH.  In my limited experience with gambling, the money sure rolls out a lot faster than it rolls in. Then again, the excitement lies in the hope that you MIGHT win, even if odds are stacked against you.

Anyway!  If you had a game room, what would you want to include in it?  Do you have any favorite games? [I prefer games that utilize brains and/or luck/chance over games that require physical prowess! I have ZERO athletic capability, and I cannot stand video games.  I am terrible at bowling and I don't even want to try to shoot pool.  This klutz knows her limitations!  And my BIG NERD CONFESSION: my favorite game of all -- the only game that I truly love -- is SCRABBLE.  I lovelovelovelovelove SCRABBLE, and I will take on any challenger at any time!]

I think it would be nice to have a game room that included a little something for everyone!

I've never been able to be that fancy, but I've had a pretty respectable man-cave before. Maybe you've seen my blog? :P

I am a billiards girl all the way. Totally and completely. Oh, and a great view of the city would be awesome, too.

I'm totally in awe of these people who have the luxury to BUY A HOME in Vegas to support a HOBBY. I mean . . . wtf.

I love games. Specifically, board games that involve personality (my fave is Loaded Questions, and I also like Dirt, and other ones like that where you have to get to know the people playing with you). I also like to play Mario Bros on our wii. :) Lately, Matt and I are all about some Donkey Kong. ha!

I'm bad at pool, but I still think it's fun (at bars with beers in hand). :)

Oh I would love to have a house that had a bad ass game room.

We are a competitive peoples.

Also, watch Rounders. Excellent movie, great explanation of Poker.

In my mind they always look a certain way. It's so interesting to see so many looks!

Ugh, I'm not a games person at all. I am horrible at athletics so sports are out.I am not competitive so I ruin it for anyone who is excited to beat me at anything because I don't care so it takes all the fun out of beating me. I do enjoy a good scrabble game though, although I have zero strategy when it comes to placing my letters on the good squares...

I can't say I'm a games person. But a play room is definitely a better bet in the cards for me. You define your own game in the play room. I used to love uno, I'd scream my head off.

My husband would shit for that video-games room set-up. Sigh, he is a gamer but luckily a cool one. and only plays them when I'm in bed, usually...haha.
These are amazing rooms...it would be cool to have a games room for when companies come over. I would want a few pinball machines (LOVE PINBALL), ping pong table, pool table (even though i suck).

I can't get over people that put up a gazillion pictures all over their walls, I mean I want to but I don't want to put a gazillion hols in the walls. is their a secret I don't know of, that prevents this from happening...cause dang my walls are barer than I want them to be due to this fear of obliterating walls of a house we do not own. (totally off topic, i know)

that first photo is a pretty mediocre games room compared to all those other awesome ones. One of these things is not like the others...
