Costa Concordia Debacle

I have watched this video three times, and it makes my jaw drop and my eyes bulge every time I see it.  It describes the STAGGERINGLY difficult and monumentally expensive efforts being taken to remove and salvage the Costa Concordia, the cruise ship that was run aground off the coast of Tuscany on January 13, 2012.

This Article sums up how survivors are still trying to cope with the after effects of the disaster one year later.

After watching the video and reading the article above, my thoughts are as follows: JUST SAY NO TO CRUISES. lol. The boyfriend and I have argued about cruises many a time -- he loves them, and I have no interest in even TRYING them.  PASS!

I have never understood the draw of a cruise. You pay a ton to be on a ship with other tourists. You have like 2 hours to try and see stuff in a city before having to get back on the boat. Your room is like living in a closet. You have to dress up for meals. Umm, no thanks.

Um. I've never been on a cruise ship. Nor do I plan to be now. People are too cocky about that stuff any more. It's just a Titanic, round 2 waiting to happen. And I am not cut out to be a Rose.

Much Love,
Trissta

The whole story is like a really bad made-for-TV movie, with the seedy captain doing lines of coke with his busty young girlfriend as the ships runs into a reef.

My parents go on cruises quite a bit now. I think it's definitely for the older set. Or people who like to eat A LOT.

I'm with you- no cruises for this girl, being out in the middle of the ocean freaks me the fuck out. Luckily for me, my husband and I are on the same page, so no cruises for me ever!

Mind boggling.... That is definitely something to watch for...I'd love to see if that will be a success.

I'm not sure if you read Bossypants by Tina Fey (though I think you SHOULD, or better yet, listen to the audio) but she has a horrendous cruise ship story!
